Guiding steps towards the path of peace

Hello and welcome to Kelly Kaitson Psychotherapy!

Supporting you where you are today in your suffering is my sincere desire. I am passionate about helping individuals and families reach wholeness and moving into a place of peace. My warm, empathetic and non-judgmental approach to therapy brings the safety and support necessary to face issues of suffering truthfully in order to find resolution and relief.

I believe looking at the bio-psycho-social-spiritual parts of a person is the holistic way to address every part of us which may be in need of support and attention. This is the exploration which brings wholeness and ultimately peace. Further therapeutic tools I use are CBT, psychodynamic, EMDR, systems/family and developmental approaches among others.

My belief that people can heal from suffering and live lives of purpose and joy is at the core of my practice. My personal Christian faith supports my clinical skills and has directed my calling into private practice.

There is always hope no matter how dark your reality may be today. Suffering is never wasted but has the potential to bring great beauty from pain. I invite you to take this first step toward wholeness and join me in taking steps towards healing.

Background

My education and training as a clinical social worker was obtained at San Diego State University where I completed both my undergraduate ('96) and graduate degrees ('98) in social work.  I became licensed in 2008 and focused on issues of health and aging. Practicum included work on base at NAS Miramar with active duty service members and their families.

My years of practice in the tender issues of hospice have given me special knowledge into anxiety, depression, grief, loss, bereavement & trauma. It has shown me the importance of faith and hope during these dark hours of the soul and as a skilled companion, I will walk with you on this road to bring strength and integrity through the suffering.

I am EMDRIA certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and find this particularly helpful in my work with clients who are "stuck" in painful, traumatic memories that keep them chained to the past. I was trained through the EMDR Institute and HAP and have found this modality consistently freeing and restorative for my clients.
